What Is the Crescendo Strain?

If you love the rich (i.e. strong) diesel smell of Chemdawg and have always wanted to try the strain, ranked as one of the top 100 weed strains of all time, but are looking for something slightly more mellow then you’ll love the Crescendo strain!

Chemdawg is a popular strain among cannabis enthusiasts. After all, it’s a parent to powerhouse strains such as Sour Diesel and OG Kush. So, if you visit your cannabis dispensary a lot and consume a lot of cannabis you’ve likely encountered it at some point.

That’s what makes the newer Crescendo strain so intriguing. What’s there to know about this new cannabis strain? Let’s see!

What to Know About the Crescendo Strain

Where does the crescendo strain come from? It’s got an interesting lineage, stemming from Chemdawg, I-95, and Mandarin Cookies. This makes it a pretty classic All-American hybrid that’s indica-heavy and boasts up to 25% THC.

We’ve briefly talked about Chemdawg, but what’s the strain like? Understanding Chemdawg and the two other parent strains can give you a great idea of what to expect when you smoke the Crescendo strain of cannabis.

Chemdawg is mostly known for its smell. It’s got a strong diesel-like smell you can identify a mile away. Aside from being pretty pungent, it’s also very potent.

However, despite a strong high, you can expect to enjoy a pretty cerebral high with that heavy-bodied sensation you get from other indica-dominant hybrid strains.

Mandarin Cookies, also sometimes called Mandarin Mints, is a cross between Mandarin Sunset and Forum Cut Cookies. The latter comes straight from the famous Girl Scout Cookies, adding another powerhouse parent strain into the mix.

As the name suggests, both the flavor and the smell are very citrus-heavy. However, the overall flavor is slightly sweet mandarin mixed with diesel. It’s great for an after-dinner smoke that will relax you and leave you feeling calm but won’t leave you locked on the couch.

I-95 is yet another diesel-heavy cannabis strain (the smell, folks, not the actual taste or ingredients!). It’s a mix between Stardawg, Legend OG, and Triangle Kush. The smell is super sour and funky. However, the high is slightly more focused than the other two parent strains.

Crescendo Strain Effects

Most cannabis users who consume the Crescendo strain report feeling the following three effects more than anything else:

  • Tingly
  • Happy
  • Aroused

While it’s an indica-leaning hybrid and users do feel the indica, they’ve all seemed to note that the indica benefits come in the form of a positive, tingly body high. This means that if you struggle with physical pain, Crescendo might be a great option for you.

Likewise, this strain of medical cannabis is great for:

  • Joint pain
  • Muscular pain
  • Depression
  • Seizures
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia

Most users report feeling a euphoric cerebral high without being overwhelming in the head. You’ll likely feel the effects of Crescendo reach the head first (like a proper crescendo) and then mellow out into your body.

Crescendo Strain Fragrance

As you can imagine by now, the Crescendo strain has a super potent and pungent smell. While it’s overwhelmingly going to smell very diesel-like and skunky, the dominant terpene in this strain is caryophyllene, followed by limonene and myrcene.

Caryophyllene has a peppery aroma and flavor while limonene is more citrusy. With Mandarin Cookies as a parent strain, you can expect to still get a slight hint of a citrus aroma. However, it seems to lean more towards lemon than mandarin.

All in all, it’s worth noting that Crescendo is a pretty dank-smelling cannabis strain. This means that if you’re interested in being discreet, you might want to try another strain. Or, learn how to properly store your cananbis so that the smell doesn’t escape.

Crescendo Strain Flavors

If you’re into kushy sweet flavors then you’re likely going to love the Crescendo strain. Users note a strong taste of sweet cookie dough. This is mixed in with a kushy flavor that’s somewhat gassy. That makes sense given the diesel-heavy nature of its parent strains.

Other flavors that some users have picked up on include vanilla and violet. However, skunky, gassy, and “potent” are all words that most cannabis users rely on to describe the Crescendo strain. So, keep this in mind if you’re looking for something a little more fruity or subtle!

Strains Similar to Crescendo

What other strains might you like if you enjoy the Crescendo strain for recreational use? We’d suggest taking a look at:

  • Gushers
  • White Truffle
  • Chem Cookies
  • Romulan Grapefruit

All feature similar THC content as Crescendo and the tingly high that users love about the strain. However, you’ll find that most of these alternative strains aren’t as pungent as Crescendo.

Gushers, for example, is tropical. White Truffle is buttery and nutty with only a hint of that skunk aroma. Overall, they’re all great alternatives to the Crescendo strain and will provide you with similar effects.

Expect to feel tingly, relaxed, and uplifted. While they’re all hybrids, we didn’t see many users reporting a super sedated feeling that you might find in some indica-dominant strains.
